Each year, the Cape Fear REALTORS® John W. Pierson Humanitarian Award gifts a scholarship to a non-profit on behalf of the recipient. The 2022 recipient of this award is Ellen Jo Kraemer, who chose the Good Shepherd Center as the award's benefactor. The Good Shepherd Center’s mission and work revolve around feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, and fostering the transition to housing. 

Ellen Jo Kraemer is an incredible leader and role model for other REALTORS® demonstrating true philanthropy as well as the meaning of housing for all. Since 2015, she has given a percentage of every real estate transaction (buying or selling), to the Good Shepherd Center. To date she has donated more than $15,000 providing valuable revenue to help return others to their own housing.

Jane Brinbach of the Good Shepherd Center accepted the award on behalf of Ellen Jo Kraemer at the Cape Fear REALTORS® 2022 Awards Ceremony and Luncheon at the Terraces on Sir Tyler on December 7.
